Where Rescued Horses Help Rescue People Who Have Experienced Trauma!
Welcome to Joyful Ranch Counseling a place of hope and transformation for those who have endured the weight of childhood trauma. At Joyful Ranch Counseling, we understand the unique challenges and deep scars that can result from early life experiences.
That’s why we’re so passionate about using rescued animals to help rescue people from past trauma!
Childhood trauma can cast a long shadow, affecting every aspect of our lives. But it doesn't have to define our future.
We offer a safe and nurturing space where you can explore your pain, gain insight, and develop the tools needed to break free from the past and embrace a life filled with possibilities.
Our approach is grounded in empathy, trust, and evidence-based therapies.
We will work closely with you to guide you toward resilience, recovery, and a brighter future.
Joyful Ranch Counseling is a non-profit organization and survives on donations to assist our cause.

Our Services!
Experience Trauma Counseling with a Difference!
We offer a range of services to help people. These services are designed to help clients overcome obstacles, improve their mindset, and achieve their mental health goals.
Individual Counseling Sessions
We offer personalized one on one sessions. We specialize in helping people work through trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, DID and more.
We offer in person and virtual sessions.
We offer a low sliding scale fee for all Individual Counseling sessions. This is based on your household income.
Group Equine Assisted Therapy
In group therapy, the clients experience decreased feelings of isolation, learn new coping skills, have a heightened sense of community, improved social skills, and increased ability to express thoughts and feelings.
Each one of our groups includes therapeutic activities using rescued horses, dogs, mini-pigs, and other farm animals.
Christian Counseling
We offer faith-based counseling for people who are interested in improving their walk with God while working through their mental health struggles. However, we also respect the religious views of everyone who walks through our doors.
Our staff member Kellie Ann Peterson M.Div. specializes in Pastoral Counseling and parenting.
Intensive Outpatient Summer Camp
Joyful Ranch is excited to announce our IOP Intensive Outpatient Program summer camps.
Each 2-week summer camp will run from 9 am to noon on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
During the summer camp IOP each person will be given the opportunity to work through deep rooted trauma, anxiety, and depression. We spend time on the farm working alongside the horses during the camp.
Teen Therapy
Currently, we offer several therapy groups for teens, pre-teens, and young adults.
We currently offer 2 teen girl groups, 1 group for ages 7-10, and 1 group for young women ages 18-22.
All of our group therapy is $20 per session. We meet weekly all year long. We are always open to hosting new groups if you have one in mind.
Through Texas Health Initiative we do offer full scholarships for the teen groups for low-income qualified families.
Parenting Classes
Kellie Ann leads online and in-person support groups, parenting classes, and Bible studies.

Equine-assisted activity harnesses the profound connection between humans and horses to promote emotional healing and personal growth.
Horses, with their gentle and intuitive nature, provide a non-judgmental presence that helps trauma survivors feel safe and understood. Through guided interactions with these magnificent animals, individuals can develop trust, build self-esteem, and learn healthy coping mechanisms. The process of caring for and communicating with horses encourages mindfulness, reduces anxiety, and fosters a sense of empowerment. Equine assisted activities offer a unique, experiential pathway to recovery, helping trauma survivors reconnect with their emotions and build resilience for a healthier future.
